The Ponelo Pelo Living Library@ is a unique initiative aimed at preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Shangaan and Sepedi communities. It serves as a platform for learners to collect and document stories from elders, community leaders, and grandparents, ensuring that these invaluable narratives are not lost with time. The collected stories, along with accompanying pictures, are then uploaded to the website, creating a digital repository of cultural knowledge. This living library not only provides a wealth of material for culture studies and projects but also lays the foundation for the development of a comprehensive Shangaan and Sepedi Library for future educational use.

Traditions are the basis for language and eventually culture. Here we see an elder prepareing ‘marupe’ – a traditional food form the local wetlands in Bushbuckridge. There are many stories to be told around the cultivating, harvesting and preparing of ‘marupe’
